Is this just a mini taser?
VeRelief uses a technology similar to Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS). These devices have been around for decades. VeRelief is nowhere near as powerful as a taser. It is intended to deliver gentle electrical impulses to the vagus nerve and other nerves similar to a TENS unit.
How is this different than a TENS unit?
Stimulating the vagus nerve with TENS requires an ear clip, which causes discomfort after a few minutes due to pinching sensations and concentrated electrical energy in a small area in the ear. It also takes 20-30 minutes to see little to no improvement in the vagal response. A TENS unit uses a bulky machine that you can’t put in your pocket. It has wires that can get in the way while you move or travel. Sticky pad electrodes fall off your skin easily and are more expensive to replace than the VeRelief gel tips over time.
